Frenectomy - The mouth has several frenums. They are little folds of tissue that connects the lip to the gum tissue attached the teeth. The labial frenum connects the upper lip to the area between the front two teeth. If this tissue is too prominant it will cause the two front teeth to seperate.
The lingual frenum connects the floor of the mouth to the tongue. The phrase "tongue tied" comes from the fold of tisuue connecting to the tip of the tongue. When this happens and the tongue is stuck out, it bends downward. This can cause speech problems as well as teeth misalignment.
Both of these conditions are easily fixed, usually with a laser, and is very predictable and painless.
